Rediscovering Health Through Functional Nutrition

In a world where quick fixes and fad diets dominate headlines, true health often feels elusive. But what if the key to wellbeing isn't found in the latest trend, but in understanding your own body?

I believe that your body communicates its needs through various signs and symptoms, and my role is to help you understand and respond to these signals.

Functional nutrition isn't about restrictive diets or one-size-fits-all solutions. It's a journey of discovery – uncovering how different foods and lifestyle choices affect your energy, mood, and overall well-being. Together, we'll translate your body's signals into actionable steps towards lasting health.

Whether you're grappling with persistent health issues or simply aiming to feel your best, functional nutrition offers a path forward. It's not just about what you eat – it's about how you live, sleep, move, and manage stress. It's about seeing your health as an interconnected system and nurturing it holistically.

Curious about what your body is trying to tell you? Let's work together to decode its messages and boost your health.

My Approach: The Foundations of Health

My approach is built on what Functional Nutrition calls the Foundations of Health. These foundations are deeply influenced by the basics God wired into our biology from the beginning:

morning sunlight, pure water, time in nature, and daily rhythm, because how we live shapes how well these systems function. This is always where we begin, because when the foundations are in place, everything else builds on solid ground.

Nutrient-Dense Diet

Whole, thoughtfully prepared, foods are a source of joy and nourish the body with the nutrients it needs to thrive.

Optimal Digestion

What we eat has little impact if we can’t digest and absorb the nutrients. Proper digestive function is essential for the health of every cell and system.

Blood Sugar Regulation

From energy balance, metabolism, and inflammation to hormone production and mental health, blood sugar regulation is crucial to maintaining wellness.

Quality Sleep

Adequate, quality sleep is essential for optimal physiological and cognitive function.

Stress Management

We cannot always control our stressors, but managing our response to stress has profoundly positive physical and mental impacts on health.

When these foundations are strong and balanced, they create a synergy that allows your body to thrive naturally. Think of them as the roots of a tree—when nourished properly, they support vibrant growth above.

My role is to help you understand and strengthen these foundations in a way that's tailored to your unique body and lifestyle. Together, we'll explore how each of these areas impacts your health and develop strategies to optimize them.

This approach isn't about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. It's about creating a robust foundation for lasting health, giving your body the support it needs to function at its best.

My Path to Functional Nutrition

My path into functional nutrition wasn't a straight line. It began where so many of my clients' stories begin: inside a family that wasn't well, with answers that weren't coming.

Several family members were dealing with health challenges, and conventional medicine gave us diagnoses, but not direction. I knew there had to be more to the story, so I started looking for it.

That search brought me to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and, eventually, to functional nutrition, where I encountered something that changed everything: the idea that the body isn't broken, it's responding. To stress, to nutrient deficiency, to disrupted rhythms, to years of being asked to function without the right foundations.

God designed our bodies with extraordinary intelligence. My job is to help people stop working against that design and start working with it.

I went deep into the science, completing my certification as a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association and my FNLP training through the Functional Nutrition Alliance, where I spent over a decade working clinically, seeing thousands of clients with complex cases. I've supported students in the program, mentored practicing nutritionists, and built a body of clinical experience that shapes how I approach every person who comes to me.

What I bring to our work together isn't just training. It's 11 years of sitting across from people who were told their labs were normal, it was just their age, or they needed to learn to live with it. People who knew something was wrong and couldn't get anyone to take the full picture seriously.

I take the full picture seriously. Every time.

My approach is:

Root-cause focused: We start with your full story, from birth to today, because your symptoms are telling us something. I'm not interested in chasing them with protocols. I want to know why.

Bio-individual: Your protocol is built around who you are, not a clinical algorithm. What works for someone else may not be what your body needs, and we'll figure out the difference.

Grounded in God's design: I draw on whole-food nutrition, circadian biology, and the foundations of health, because the body was designed with everything it needs to function well. Our job is to stop working against that design and start working with it.

Empowering: My goal is to equip you to become your own best expert and advocate. You will leave our work together understanding your body in a way no one has ever explained to you before.

Beyond My Practice

When I'm not with clients, you might find me outside catching the morning light (yes, I practice what I teach), taking long walks, or deep in a good book. I live in Texas with my husband and a house that has never been short on people or animals.

I came to this work the long way, through raising kids, supporting my family's health, and spending years learning everything I could about why the body does what it does. That journey is still with me in every session. I didn't go looking for a career in nutrition. I went looking for answers, and the answers led me here.

I believe in the foundations. Whole food, morning sunlight, real sleep, and quiet time with God. Not because I read about them. Because I live by them, imperfectly and genuinely, the same way I ask my clients to.
